For this project we had to make a set of four mugs using the soft slab technique. I made four 5 inch tall mugs with handles. I used glazes PC-23 and PC-27. To make these pots I started with a thin slab and a tennis ball container. I wrapped another slab around the container to get the cylinder form. I repeated this process for all 4 pots, smoothing and shaping throughout. Next, I pulled handles for all four pots. One of my pots ended up losing its handle after the glaze firing, I'm still not sure why the handle fell off. All of my handles were attached the same way and very similar. After the bisque fire, I used two different glazes for a nice blue design. I used tape to help make the lines clean. I have already used PC-27 before on another mug, so I knew I wanted to use it again. But, I also wanted to spice my mugs up a little bit so I glazed the inside and the rim a different blue color. Overall I really like how my pots turned out and these mugs are probably my favorite thing I have made so far. My favorite part is the glaze but something I would do differently is spend more time on my handles.
