The main ideas that guided these pieces of artwork is the idea of pure contour. It was definitely hard to refrain from making really sketchy lines. I did like the idea of no shading because adding dimension with shading is difficult for me. This exercise helped me realize how much detail that our eyes immediately don't register. My favorite drawing that I did was the hand drawing because I think I have gotten better with drawing my hand.
To make the hand drawing I sketched my ideas and then went over it with sharpie, then I realized I wasn't supposed to do that. It was my first thought though because I could erase the sketchy lines without erasing the main line. For the others I just used a darker pencil and tried to erase the sketchy lines underneath. All of the drawings were made on drawing paper. I found the hand drawing the easiest.
To make these drawings I did a lot of drawing and erasing to try to get the depth right. I had trouble with the front view of the shoe because it was hard to not make it look like the aerial view. The side view of the shoe was also difficult because I was so focused on the laces I wasn't paying attention to the way the rest of the shoe looked. I did try to do the laces multiple ways but I found that doing it lace by lace was easiest. Overall this project was difficult but definitely not super hard.
