Art History

My inspirations for this artwork were Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet. I really liked Monet's landscape pieces, and I thought they were really beautiful. My inspiration from Van Gogh came more from his brush strokes and all of the little lines he would put into his work. My color pallet is also similar to Van Gogh's piece called "Starry Night." This is because I wasn't sure what other colors would work for this type of ocean scene.

For this work I used colored pencil and watercolor. I started with just colored pencil, but there was still some places that needed to be covered so I used watercolor. I was thinking about using ink for the sailboat and the rock, but I didn't know how well the paper would hold it.

Since I was at home, I started this piece with paint and regular paper. I came up with a product similar to this, but i didn't like it very much. So, when I got to school I redid it with different materials. I also looked at multiple pieces from Van Gogh and Monet to decide how I would do my work.
