Artist Inspired

Final

For this project, we had to make a form that was inspired by two different artists of our choice. I chose Indigo Cristol and Kelli Sinner. I was inspired by the 3D shapes of Cristol and I am really interested with all of her work. I was inspired by the warm toned glazes that Sinner uses in almost all of her work. To start this project, I decided to make two mugs that have flowers on them. The flowers are inspired by Cristol, and the glaze choice is inspired by Sinner. I ended up using glazes C-55 for the inside and the flowers, and SM-63 for the outside. I started by making slabs for these mugs. I like using slabs a lot, I used this technique for the body of my mugs as well as the handles. I originally wanted to make multiple flowers on these mugs, but I got pretty sick during the week we constructed these, and that set me behind a bit. I only ended up putting one flower on each mug but I am still happy with how they turned out. I also wish I made the handles on my mugs a bit bigger just for comfort purposes, but they still work fine!
