Makers Mark Stamp

Final

For this project, I made a stamp that I can use to sign my other work. To make this I started with a small amount of clay and I rounded the sphere to make a stamp with a slightly larger bottom and thinner top. I made sure that each side of my stamp was flat and even. I used a mixture of pinching and rounding to make the shape I want. Once the clay was dry enough to carve into, I started my design.

I played around with a few different designs before I chose the final design. I wanted something simple yet unique. I chose this design with a curvy line in the middle of an oval. Once I started carving it was hard to decide whether I wanted to carve the negative space or the positive space, but I ended up carving the negative space because I thought it would make the stamp pop out more.

Overall I think my stamp turned out well and I don't think there is much I would change. If I had to choose one thing to change, next time I would also carve around the oval to make the shape pop out more. I am really happy with the shape of my stamp and I think the shape makes it easier to use.
