Sustained Investigation

Sustained investigation:  Photograph bodies of water. How can I incorporate bodies of wanted in my photos using different subjects and compositions.

Artist Statement:

This assignment was to choose a topic to photograph throughout the semester in order to come up with a collection of photos portraying to the topic. The goal of my sustained investigation was to take photos with bodies of water in them, using different subjects and compositions. I succeeded with this.  I took these throughout the winter and spring so you can see that some of them feature frozen bodies of water.

I like the way that this came out as a whole, I like the way the images complement each other as a collection. Some of the subjects that I used were my friends, my dog, and my grandfather. I also played around a lot with different horizon lines and different times of the day.

One of my favorites is the one in the middle on the bottom. I especially like this photo because if you look closely you can see someone's reflection in the water, but you can't really see the person on the rocks.  Another one of my favorites is the photo of my grandfather walking down the dock. I like this photo because it reminds me of the day we spent together, and also because of the way the leading lines of the horizon and the dock all lead to him, drawing attention to him.
