Artist statement

When given the assignment I quickly thought of climate change. The health of the earth is very important and I thought it would be a good issue to create art about.

I started by sketching it out with pencils. Next, I made outlines with a sharpie and went in with colored pencils. I used dark and bland colors to try to portray the sadness in the work.

I planned on having all of the sky be that dark bluish grey color, but As I brought it down I decided to leave the bottom of the sky lighter. The lighter sky down low represents the ignorance humans have. We don't see what we are doing (hence the darkness up top with the polar bear.)
