One Point Perspective

  12 x 18

For this project we started by learning how to draw in one point perspective. We learned about the vanishing point, horizon line, and orthogonals. For the first formative we had to draw five shapes above the horizon line, and five shapes below, just to practice drawing things in perspective. The second formative that we did was drawing the inside of a room. We used pencil and had to include certain furniture, selves, ect. For the summative, (the last project) We took a picture of a hallway in the school, printed it out and drew it. First we had to identify where the vanishing point in the photo was, in order to draw it correctly. Once I did that I draw the four main orthogonals and the back wall. From there I added in all the details. When the basic hallway was done we had to add something to personalize it/ show out voice as an artist. I colored in the picture on the back wall with orange, blue, and purple. I then drew plants (matching the picture) that were supposed to be busting through the floor.

Some elements of art that I used were line, value, and color. I used these to create unity and contrast. The hallway came together looking realistic and unified when I used different values, and made sure that all the lines were in the right spot.  I used the same color on the picture and the flowers. I think this created more unity by linking them together and also created contrast by making them stand out from the gray background.

In my work, I am proudest of how it all looks in proportion and in perspective. A couple struggles that I had to overcome in the process were, making the ceiling tiles accurate and making the plants look like hey were coming out of holes/cracks in the floor. I think that the times look accurate now, but the holes look more like weird mounds.
