Artist Statement
I created a plane pulling a banner that says 'Pilot Someone's Future' I like the play on the words pilot with the plane drawing. I made the piece simple so that all the attention was drawn to the message.
I used a thin sharpie for the basic outline. I then went in with crayons for the white, pink, and yellow. The reason that I chose to use crayons is because they come through watercolor. Last I went over the whole thing with a watered-down blue watercolor. The watercolor rolled off the wax of the crayon, which is what I was hoping for. I sprinkled some salt on the watercolor to create some texture in the sky.
The process went pretty smoothly for this project. I started with a solid idea and executed it without too much trouble.
