Squiggle Drawing

Rainbow Troll

9 x 12

For this drawing I used sharpie, pencil, and colored pencil. We started off with a sharpie squiggle that someone else made, and then had to come up with a picture to make it into. When I saw my squiggle I immediately saw the profile of a face. Next I sketched out the rest of the drawing and then colored it and added detail.

I used color on the whole face to create a contrast against the white background. I also used value in the hair and skin by shading with the colored pencils. I also used shape, for example, the eye, lips, ear, hair, teeth, ect. The whole drawing is held together by lines which creates unity.

I think this drawing shows my creativity, to be able to look at a squiggly line and come up with a rainbow troll staring at a spider. I am most proud of the eye, the hair, and the spider. I like the eye because it is what I see first when I look at it, I like the hair because I like the way the color fades in the middle, and I like the spider because it is a good touch that makes the drawing more interesting. One struggle that I had was coming up with details to make the face more interesting. eventually I came up with the freckles, earrings, spider and tears.
