Abstract Shoe Drawing

Scratch and Sniff

12 x 18

For this project we started by drawing three perspectives of our shoe, I did my birkenstocks. On from above, the side, and the front. We the used a viewfinder to zoom in three times to an interesting part of the drawing. I did the part of my shoe with the buckle. We then had another paper with all three of the enlarged zoom sections. Once that was complete we had to choose one out of the three compositions to enlarge even more on to a full size paper. I chose the least zoomed of my three compositions because it was the most interesting. Once I had that onto my paper I made each shape have a fruit pattern, I used sharpies to do this.

Some elements of art that I used in my drawing were color and pattern. I used very bright colors and interesting patterns to create unity and contrast on the white page. I also created emphasis on each section by using different color combinations in each.

When I look at my drawing it reminds me of the game fruit ninja and scratch and sniff stickers. My favorite part is the section with the lemons because I love how the green makes the yellow pop. One challenge that I had while creating this was thinking of a different fruit for each shape. I overcame this by asking my peers for ideas. Another thing that was difficult for me was, at the beginning when we had to draw the front view of the shoe. It was hard for me to draw what it really looked like.
