Time Capsule Self Portrait

Artist Statement

The main Idea of this artwork was to challenge myself to create a piece of art that looks as close to me as possible. The artwork in the end came out not looking as much like me as I wanted, but creating this was a good challenge and a good step into my artistic side. This was a very challenging this to draw because a face is a very complex and has many different parts.

To create this artwork I used a pencil and a mirror. In order to create this I had to stare into a mirror for a solid 25 minutes at myself to make sure I got many details right. In the end the artwork didn't end up looking like me at all but I put time and effort into to at least create artwork that looks like a human.

To make this first I grabbed a mirror and outlined the face shape with a 2H pencil then I divided my face horizontally and vertically in order to mark where my features were gonna go. After, I marked my face in four sections I started to work on the features themselves starting with the mouth and going upward finishing with the hair.
