This year I am most proud of my Multiple Pinch Pots project. I am most proud of this project because I really enjoy how it looks like I envisioned. One of the things about this project that I loved was the freedom we had when choosing what we wanted to create. I enjoyed being able to make small leaves that didn't take very long but still desplayed my knowledge on the pinch techinque to create a finished product I am very proud of. From doing this project I learned that I really enjoy creating things out of clay that are based off of real life iteams. Seeing a peice of art I created come out of the kiln looking better than I imagined and being proud of it, ecourages me to want to create more off of that one techinque. Overall this project was my favorite because I feel like most proud of the way this peice turned out, it made me want to continue to enhance my skill in the pinch pot technique.
Overall ceramics 1 has effected my veiw on pottery. Before taking ceramics I didn't understand why people looked at pottery the way they did. Taking this class made me gain respect for potters as it takes alot of skill to be able to create a "perect" piece. It made me realise how one small mistake can ruin hours and hours of work. Taking ceramics also made me realise how hard it would be to be an artist in the real word. Reciving critism on your work that took you hours and hours for some random person to say they hate it. Taking ceramics make you gain knowledge and respect for the art communtiy as art isnt an easy life route, and learning the skill of pottery isnt a skill that many know, so when you show respect for potters work it can leave that potter with a great feeling and feeling great about spending hours on one small pot.
Ceramics 1 is a great class that helps you gain tons of knowledge. If I were to make some changes to the class I would start with the progress phot require ment. Progress photos for me were a huge struggle throughout this class, I find it hard to rememeber to pick up your phone and take pictures of your art work mid art sesion. If I were to change this I would have Mr.A either have a set time during the class period where everyone takes a picture of there art, or get rid of progess photos and make it a requirement for a sketch picture, a pre fired picture, and an end result photo. Secondly if I were to change a thing about ceramics 1 it would be limiting all students to a certain amount of clay per project. We were limited during our last project and personally it made me care more about what I was creating because I knew there wasnt much room for error as I couldn't fully restart every time I messed up, because I had limited resources.
