Artist Statement

The main idea that guided this art work was to create a piece of art out of random lines. I created this by trying to draw the person I sat next to without looking at my paper just looking at him, after I did this my art looked nothing like him thats when the challenge came up to create something else out of my carefully drawn lines, and that was when I saw two people that dont look like humans but more like characters from a made up world. I could see the two people when I looked at where my table mates ear was spoused to be and it looked like a nose from the side.

To create this I only used a few things. The main things I used were a sharpie pen and my table mate. I started out by staring into my table mates face and carefully drawing what my eye saw with my hand. In order to do this I had to pay attention and make very careful lines. In the end it looked nothing like him so then I went back in with my sharpie pen and made some of my defining lines darker such as the nose and the face outline. Then I went in with my 6B pencil to add some shading.

The process I went through to create this was pretty simple. First, I turned my paper all different ways to until an idea popped into my head. After that idea popped into my head, I started making it look more like what I saw so that others could see it as well, then I added small details to make it a more complex piece of art and make it come to life. At the end I added some shading to the drawing so it would look more in depth and detailed.
