This art was inspired by my collage. My collage was inspired by the idea of a genius. To me a genius can be anyone that used their own ideas to spark new ideas. I added money as it shows how if you use your knowledge to your advantage it can take you places. I added mountains as it shows how ideas can come from anywhere you might just have to search. I added signs to show that your ideas can be sparked from anything. Lastly I added many different pieces of colored paper, this symbolises that ideas can be a wide variety and not every idea will be the same size but can still be in the same category. With this art I am trying to get the message across that you can find your smartness in anything. Nature , or man-made can inspire great ideas.

To create this work I used magazines, acrylic paint and paint pens. First I used magazines to create my raw collage. To create this raw collage I cut out many different ideas from multiple different magazines and added them onto a piece of paper. I had to move around the paper multiple times to get the look I wanted. Next I had to paint my collage. To do this I used a light bored to trace my collage onto my canvas, this allowed to the collage and my painting to look similar. After sketching on my collage with a pencil I used an eraser to clean up my lines and the empty space. After I was done with that I moved onto painting. I had to figure out what to paint first based on what was in the background of my collage. I painted the plain paper and a lot of the cut up paper first as it was the bottom layer of my collage. Next I went on to paint my mountains and money. For this I painted the background then added the rest on top to make the layers more obvious. Lastly I painted my letters, for this step I painted my black squares and used a white paint pen on top for the letter itself. To finish off the painting I outlined everything with a black paint pen.

This art threw out a few challenges. The main ones where tracing my collage onto my canvas and my light colors. First tracing my raw collage onto my canvas was hard because the collage was very thick letting little light through making it hard for me to get exact placement of some of my pieces. The only was to fix this was to move into a completely dark room so as much light as possible could get through. Onced I moved to a dark room it helped me a little but not fully as I had to hold my paper very close to each other to get the most light through. Lasty my light colors caused a problem as they were opake making it hard for them to put on top of other colors without lots of color coming through. This was an easy fix as I just used many layers of paint. In the end this project was fun and enjoyable as the painting was very calming.
