Markers , Bristol paper

The main idea that guided this artwork was to create a piece that can capture and inspire others to consider organ and tissue donation. I wanted to use the outdoors as my inspiration because going outdoors and watching sunsets and sunrises or birds can be a calming and enjoyable experience. I used a sunrise as my final idea because when choosing organ and tissue donation you are giving someone a chance to continue to see sunrises. I used the idea of bright colors in my sunrise as if they are new organs you are giving someone so they don't have to have a plain sky.

I made this artwork with markers, on bristol board. I used these materials because markers are something I always feel comfortable using and I really like the way they look on a finished piece. I started off by hand drawing my letters the way I wanted them to look. I hand drew them because I wanted to make this art 100% mine. Next, I added my horizon line, so I knew where my sun should sit and where the sky and ocean should meet. After drawing my letters in I added my sun. I choose to do my sun first sense it was the main viewing point. Then I added in the sun's reflection, since I was using markers I had to add the yellow before the ocean because markers do not blend. After my reflection, I added in the water then the sky. As soon as I finished the sky I realized by art looked plain so I added in some birds to make it come to life.

This drawing was on the simpler sides of my work but I did face one challenge. This was making my letters too big. Since I was handwriting my letters They don't always come out to the perfect size. This meant I had to go back and re-write my letters multiple times. That was my only major issue with this drawing, but as I kept trying and fixing my mistakes it got better and turned out the way I liked it.
