Artist Statement

The main idea that guided all of these artworks was to create a peice of artwork where your eye is set on the negative space in the shape of a sertain object. For my negative space leaves prjoect the main idea was to draw your eye to the white of the paper or the negitive space. The negative space is in the shape of leaves we found outside of the school.

This work was made by useing 5 leaves I found and drawing them to a larger scale than they really are. First I used a 2H graphite pencil to draw the outline of my art. After outlineing my art with my graphite I outlined my lines with a shaprie pen. I outlined my artwork with sharpie pen so that the negitive space was defined, from the positive space. Then I used prismacolor colored pencils to color in the ombré in my postive space.

The point of this is to use your eyes to draw every little deatail of the leaf without traseing it. When drawing these leaves we had to create atleast 5 postiive spaces, postive space is the space that that you where to create a design. The idea I had when creating my postive space was to show the colors of the fall by a simple ombré of the vibrate fall colors. My idea was to show how the dull colors of fall can be a beautifle peice of art. The bright colors of yellow, orange, and red are they simple fall colors so I added this to my work to create a bright vibraint fall idea. This was not my first atempt at this project, I recreated my artwork because I belived that my old artwork could of shown more of the fall idea, this is when I drew this artwork which speaks fall to me more than my old art.
