Artist Inspired Art

Artist Statement

The idea that guided this art was to create art that shared the ideas of Pablo Picasso's art and Jackson Pollock's art. Pablo Picasso is a cubism artist and Jackson Pollock is a Abstract Expressionism artist. This two art movements share bright colors and out of the box thinking. When creating this art I used the idea of an out of the box self portrait and filled it with the vibrants out of the box lines, blobs, shaps, swiggles, ect.

This work was made with a few simple tools. I used acrylic paint, markers, and a sharpie pen. To start off I knew I wanted to make the person in the art not made up. I was really missing summer at the time so I found a photo of me in the summer and used it as inspiration. After I finished drawing my cubism self portrait I moved on to my Jackson Pollock themed filling. To do this I thought it was gonna be a easy quick thing. Turns out I was wrong. Making small movements with your brush and adding color in different places takes a lot of thinking and time. You have to figure out exactly were you want it and how big what color, ect. After I finished my filling I added my outlines and then was finished.

A challenge that I faced while creating this art was not being in school. I was struck with covid and didn't have access to the art room materials, this left me with what I had at home. I wanted to make this art on a bigger paper but I didn't have any so I had to fix my idea and shrink it down a little to make it work.
