Clay

The main idea that guided this artwork was to show how the ocean is a big part of my life. I have grown up on the ocean my whole life so it has been a major part of my life. This inspired me to create my clay tile to show off ocean life and how it looks to tourists. I also made my clay tile based off of the ocean because I love ocean life and how the ocean has so much power that we don't even understand. This leaves so much room for creativity when making a piece of art based off the ocean because there is so much you can draw.

This art was made with a few simple things. First I rolled out a clay tile about 2-3 centimeters thick and layed it out to dry. After this step, I came back later when the clay was a little dryer and added a black glaze on top of my clay tile so I could scratch out highlights. When my black glaze was dry I used clay carving tools to scratch out my highlights of my art. Then once I finished doing this Mrs. Medsker fired my clay tile in the kiln. Once this step was over I covered my tile in clear glaze. Then this got fired to finish my piece.

This project was mostly easy to me. The hardest part was I was gone for majority of the protect time. This made it hard for me to get my work done in class. I had to schedule call back and do my work in my own time sense I didn't have the class time to do it. Besides from this set back in my art time the project was mostly easy.
