Artist Statement

The main idea that guided this artwork was two random ink drops on my paper. Many people could look at two ink drops and see many different things. When I looked at these two out of shape ink drops I saw a cow, I have loved drawing cows for awhile because I like the way that every cow is different in its own way. For example, one cow can have more of a pattern one could have a pattern on its face and I think its cool because it relates to humans and how no two people are ever just like each other.

To create this art I used two dried ink drops, prismacolor markers, and graphite. The first thing I used was Ink drops I didn't use these I was given these because the point of this project was to create a piece of artwork out of an accident or a mark that wasn't planed. My art teacher dropped random ink on paper and gave it to everyone. The next material I used was prismacolor markers. I have never been a huge art person I have always sketched things but never drew something my sister loves art so I used her markers. Last thing I used was graphite in order to trace out my cow I used graphite 2h to start and went all the way to a 6b to darken my lines.

This was a very hard thing to start. Starting art with just random drops of ink on your paper almost feels wrong, so in order to start my drawing I looked up pictures of cows to really get a feel for how a cow should be drawn. While I drew the cow I did look at a picture of a cow so I could try to make it look the most like a cow it could. One thing I tried on this piece of art that i usually don"t do it trying to create a sunset. Markers don't blend as well as i thought they would making the sky look kinda off and like I just drew random colors. If I were to create thing again I would use a different material for my sunet.
