Colored Pencil and Sharpie on Printmaking Paper

The idea for my artwork came from one of my three zoomed shoes, the farthest one to the right. This idea came to me because I saw a surface, the line on the left of my zoomed shoe drawing farthest to the right. Then,  the line coming from the middle with the diagonal line added to it, made it look like it was a flag. So, I drew the moon, with a realistic-looking kind of flag on it. Making this art piece made me practice drawing the Earth from a far distance, while also learning how to add clouds and continents on the Earth.

The materials I used while creating this art were colored pencils, to draw the Earth, space, and the surface of the moon. And a sharpie, to add a defining line to make the lines showing on the third drawing farthest to the right bold. I created my art piece on printmaking paper and started off my drawing using graphite pencils to sketch the first few lines.

My process throughout making this art piece had many steps. The first step in my artwork was creating my three zoomed views of my converse. After I made the three zoomed views of my shoe,  I began my final abstract shoe with the farthest to the right zoomed shoe. Starting it off with a sketch, I thought of a moon with the flag on it with the Earth behind it. Once I sketched it out, I used colored pencils to add the colors and to make it more vibrant, coloring in the space with purple, blue, and black. And adding grey and white for the moon as well as filling in the Earth and flag. After I colored my artwork, for the last step, I added sharpie on the lines where they matched up in the third zoomed shoe, completing the process.
