Bart Simpson

Drawing paper and graphite pencils

6" x 9"

I drew Bart Simpson from this splatter of ink because as soon as I saw the ridges on the top of the splatter it stood out to me as Bart's hair from the Simpson's. I watched this show when I was a kid, so I thought it was cool to try and draw one of the characters from it. The hair definitely inspired me to draw Bart.

The materials I used when drawing this piece of art included,  6" by 9" drawing paper, and graphite pencils. I first used  a lighter graphite pencil, a 2h, to get the basic outlines drawn. After that, I went over the 2h with a 4b graphite pencil to have a darker, more visible figure.

Throughout the process of drawing Bart Simpson, I did many things.  I revised the body and the feet a lot because it was hard to get the proportions right. With most of the face already finished because of the splatter of ink, that was pretty easy to complete. I researched the Simpson's logo and practiced that a few times. I also researched the figure of Bart to get a better sense of what he looked like.
