"The Rose" revised

I was inspired to create The Rose because of several different reasons. I mainly made this because of my love for the outdoors and the flowers that I have around my house. This includes the lily of the valleys, the white flowers in the palm of the right hand, and roses. Additionally, because of the project requirements, I included at least two hands consisting of zentangles. The designs within the hands were inspired by the emotion designs, shown above.

The materials I used for this project consisted of many different colors of colored pencils, which I used to draw the flowers and soil. This is when I began with outlining each rose with a darker shade, and then continuing to color in the roses with a lighter color. I used a black pen as well for the intricate designs of the zentangles, using drawing paper for the surface.

The process of creating The Rose took several steps. The first step consisted of where the positioning of the hands was going to be. When creating this piece of work, I wanted to convey my love for nature, where I'm giving flowers to nature, or growing flowers in the soil. Once I placed the hands where I wanted them to be, I created my own little zentangles, trying to create a symmetrical kind of design on both arms and hands. My last step was the background, where I decided to include a field of roses. This is because I wanted to create a theme of roses and nature as well as the outdoors.
