Cut out pieces of magazines and cardboard

Artist Statement:

I inspiration I got from making the final collage came from my love for the nature and outdoors. The piece of artwork below my final project resembles my inspiration and like for the color green as well as the biosphere and the world around us. While working on this project, I learned some things that I wouldn't have learned if I didn't do this project. I learned how to put pictures and cut out pieces of paper from magazines into a collage and instead of jumbling all the images together, I tried to make it artistic while including an overall message to my work as well.

The materials I used to create my final project and my sketchbook works of art consisted of cut out pieces of magazines, to make a collage of pictures, graphite pencil for the sketches, colored pencil for a few sketches, as well as sharpie and paint for another sketch. While working on these sketches I learned that color is very important and without color,  some things wouldn't be as bright, for instance, my fourth piece of work in my sketchbook.

The process of creating my final collage took a multitude of steps. First, I had decided I wanted to create a collage because during this past school year, I feel like we haven't worked on this type of art a lot, and I thought it would be fun to create a piece of art using only found images I like, whether it was from a magazine, a book, or a past art sketchbook. After this, I had to create twenty different sketches based on twenty different prompts, where I then grew inspiration for my final project from one of these sketches. My last step for myself was to pick out pieces of paper that resemble anything to nature and the world surrounding us and applying these pictures onto my cardboard collage.
