The Scampering Mouse

Colored pencil and graphite pencil on drawing paper

9" x 6"

The inspiration I got to create The Scampering Mouse was from the prompt given on Google Classroom. I was inspired to choose this prompt because it seemed funny for a mouse to be running up an anthill instead of an ant and for a baseball player holding a tennis racket instead of a bat. I have never drawn an anthill before either so I thought it would be kind of fun to try and draw it. I wanted to try out cartoonish drawings as well, so I tried drawing a cartoon baseball player.

The materials I used for the WatchamaDRAWit consisted of colored pencils and a light 2B graphite pencil as well as the material of drawing paper. I sketched out my design first and continued to use a black colored pencil for the lines of the cartoon. After that, I used my colored pencils for the rest of my prompt.

My process of my WatchamaDRAWit this year didn't take too long and there were only a few steps. My first step was sketching out the lines of the baseball player, the mouse, and the hill. After I got a general layout of my prompt, I began to use colored pencils to fill in the specific characteristics. Once I finished going over my drawing with colored pencils, I erased the pencil lines and made some finishing touches on the mouse.
