11/18-11/22
Objectives:
Create more bowls, perhaps a plate
better my trimming skills
Week 11 Reflection:
This week was 100% more successful than last, although it still had its own bumps in the road. The pot and plate that I made last week in preparation for this week had extremely thin bottoms, I learned that even when I do measure the bottoms, I continue to compress them too much and when I pull the walls out I'm still putting downwards pressure on the bottom and pulling clay away from it, thinning it out. In order to combat this and not waste the pots, Mr. A had the bright idea of punching holes in the bottom of the bowl and using it as a plant holder, and the plate as it's stand and to catch the water. The bottom of the plate was still super super thin but because I kept the pieces in a closed plastic shoe box, the clay was still super wet so I was able to somewhat successfully smooth more clay into the bottom of the plate to give it more structural integrity, it also doesn't have to look perfect because the plant holder will be sitting on top of it anyways. I learned a lot this week and was able to have quite a bit of success despite the setbacks I faced, I'm excited to have some pieces I get to glaze and finish soon as well.
