Acrylic and paint marker on canvas

In this project, I wanted to create a collage and then mimick it the best I could with acrylic paint.

To get to my final project, the painting, I started by making a collage out of magazine rippings, I had to rip and glue everything with my left hand because my collar bone is broken but I think I managed well enough. I wanted it to be abstract but at least have some kind of subject, so I made the odd green and red pattern for the subject. I then mixed paint and matched it to the colors on the collage as best I could, and then painted it in the same pattern. I tried a different technique when I tried the Green and red part, I loaded paint directly onto my pallet knife instead of a brush and then spread the paint on like butter, I think it worked pretty well. When I was done with the colors, I knew I had to do something to at least acknowledge all the paper rips, so I used a black paint marker to color where the rips were in the collage.

One thing I would definitely change about this project was having my right hand be able to work, but that's something I can't really control, if my right hand was usable I would've tried to realistically imitate the paper rips.
