Color Design

In this work, I tried to mix 84 different colors using the primaries and black and white, and then paint them in an abstract way that would be visually pleasing.

I started out this work by choosing a canvas size and drew an abstract design with a sharpie. I then had to count each individual section I made so that I had at least 84, one for each color. Each color had to be by itself, there was no blending or anything like that. I started by mixing three tints and three shades for each color, then painting them, and then I moved on to the next. I used acrylic paint.

Something that I had to experiment with was painting white on the canvas before any color that had yellow in it. The yellow was very watery and thin, and even if it was the strongest tint or strongest shade, I still needed many coats.
