Recipe
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
¼ cup water
½ teaspoon flavoring
1 drop of food coloring
⅛ cup powdered sugar for dusting
Directions
Mise en place!
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside
In a saucepan, mix sugar, corn syrup, and water
Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves
Let it cook (no more stirring!)
Attach the thermometer
Let the mixture boil without stirring until it reaches 290°F (hard crack stage for high elevation)
Remove from heat
Quickly stir in flavoring and food coloring
Carefully pour onto the prepared pan
Spread slightly with a rubber spatula, if needed
Let cool 5-10 minutes or while you are cleaning up
Break into pieces
Dust lightly with powdered sugar to prevent sticking
