Gentle caretakers of life, fierce opponents of undeath. If you call for a doctor, you should be especially thankful to receive a White Mage. Specializing in their namesake White Magic, white mages practice the arcane ability to magically mend wounds, cure diseases and debilitations, and exorcise the undead. While white magic may be an arcane discipline, many White Mages are profoundly pious, and call upon divine favor in conjunction with their spells. When cornered, however, they are no less dangerous for their expertise in the healing arts. They will fight back with powers both holy and elemental, and many White Mages have been known to brandish a hammer as well.
Abilities
Penance
As the White Mage repeatedly calls to the gods and spirits of nature, their bond weakens ever so slightly. A White Mage begins combat at 0 Penance. Upon using an ability that requires Penance, the White Mage rolls 1d10; if the roll is equal to or more than their current Penance, the ability succeeds, and Penance increases by the amount listed (a roll of a 1 is always a failure, and a roll of 10 is always a success). If the roll is less than their current Penance, the call is not heard, and the ability fails, and Penance decreases by 1. Certain abilities may use or increase/decrease Penance in other ways, too.
Blessings
Blessings are buffs that the White Mage can apply to themselves as a Simple Action. Normally, a character an only have one Blessing active on them at a time, although a White Mage can have multiple Blessings active at once. Each Blessing active during Initiative increases Penance by 1. A White Mage can end a Blessing as a free action at Initiative.
White Mage Feature Abilities
Enduring Faith
Feature
Effect: The White Mage's Penance reduces by 1 each turn at Initiative. The White Mage also gains MP at Initiative equal to their Penance.
In addition, a White Mage can have multiple Blessings affecting them at once.
Break - Immortal Faith

Trigger: The White Mage fails a Penance check.
Effect: The White Mage instead passes the Penance check.

Mending Prayer I

Description:
Effect: Restores MA*6 HP to each ally in the area. Does not include the user.
Shielding Prayer I
Piety - Chain 1 - Self Area 5 - Penance: 3
Description:
Effect: Allies within the area of effect gain Shielded (-). The user gains Shielding Prayer (2) with HP equal to the user's MA*8.
Whenever any ally with Shield of Prayer receives Physical damage, the damage is directed to Shielding Prayer. When Shielding Prayer's HP is reduced to 0, it dismisses early, with all "overflow" damage affecting the user directly.
When Shielding Prayer ends on the user, all allies dismiss Shielded. Repeated uses of Shielding Prayer do not stack its HP, instead refreshing HP and duration.
Blessing of Vigor

Description:
Effect: Bestows Blessing of Vigor (4) on the White Mage. When the White Mage casts a Cure type spell on an ally, the White Mage recovers HP equal to 10% of their maximum.
Blessing of Health
Piety - Simple Action - Self - Penance: 2
Description:
Effect: Bestows Blessing of Health (4) on the White Mage. When the White Mage casts a Cure- type spell on an ally, that ally has a 50% chance to remedy a single Toxin-, Seal-, or Wound- type status ailment.
Break - Benediction
Piety - Simple Action - Self
Description:
Effect: The next Cure- or Esuna- type spell affects all allies in line of sight (ignoring other creatures), regardless of range.
Break - Breath of the Earth
Piety - Static 1 - Self Area 5
Description:
Effect: Bestows Breath of the Earth (indefinite) on the White Mage. All currently KO'd creatures in the area of effect stop losing LP as if they were treated with a Medical check. In addition, creatures who are KO'd in the area of effect do not lose LP the round they are KO'd, but continue to do so every turn thereafter. Breath of the Earth can be ended as a Simple Action.
Prime: KO'd allies have a 30% chance of reviving with 1 HP on the initial cast of Breath of the Earth.

Description:
Effect: The character suffers Exhaust 1 and Penance reduces by 2.
Chant of Faith

Description:
Effect: Reduces Penance by 1.
Prime: Whenever the character uses the Focus or Defend action, this ability can be used as a Free Action.
Plea for Vigor
Piety - Enhancer 0 - Self - Penance: 2 - Enhances: Cure- type White Magic spells.
Description:
Effect: When the White Mage casts a Cure type spell on an ally, the White Mage may first cast a Care- type spell on themselves.
Special: Only one Plea may be used per round.
Plea for Health
Piety - Enhancer 0 - Self - Penance: 2 - Enhances: Remedy- type White Magic spells.
Description:
Effect: When the character casts a remedy-type White Magic spell on an ally, they may also cast a Care- type spell on that ally as a free action.

Heavenly Smite

Description:
Damage: Normal damage, using MA*WP for damage calculation.
Effect: Changes attack type for this chain to Holy, overriding any other effects that changes elemental attack. MND vs. RES to cause Branded.

Description:
Effect: Bestows Revelations (4). While Revelations is active, all Cure-, Esuna-, and Raise- type spells are Chain 1. The only actions a character may take during Revelations is casting those spells and the Charge and Dash actions. Revelations may be dismissed at the end of the character's turn as a Free Action.
Spirit Barrier
Augment: Shielding Prayer
Description:
Effect: When the White Mage takes damage from Shielding Prayer's backlash, the damage is reduced by 10 per MP the White Mage has. The White Mage must spend as much MP as they can to reduce the damage to 0.
While the White Mage has Shielding Prayer, the White Mage has Immune: Fatal.

Paradigm Shift
Feature Optional
Effect: The White Mage may select a Job Paradigm Shift, replacing some of their Feature abilities. The character may select neither, or one of:
Devout: Specialists in White Magic, a Devout can heal wounds and remove afflictions like none other.
Cleric: Devoted to the gods, Clerics are more capable in melee combat and have significantly better control over their prayers.
Geomancer: Druids who sync their souls with elemental spirits and use the terrain to their advantage.
