At 5 Aether, the Thaumaturgist can use Thaumaturgy abilities as Free Actions. If they do, they must roll the Backfire check twice.
When the Thaumaturgist fails a Backfire check, they take True damage equal to 25% of their maximum HP for each Aether they have, and are Stunned. If they have 5 or more Aether, this increases to 50%, and also damages all creatures adjacent to them.
