Also known as Dragon Knights, Dragoons trace their lineage back to an ancient order of dragon-riders renowned for their skill in aerial combat. Originally, Dragoons rode Wind Drakes into combat, making them devastating dive bombers. Modern Dragoons have learned to channel the spirits of the dragons of old in order to recreate these devastating techniques. They are known for blasting off into the air, ignoring all terrain, and landing with devastating effect upon their enemies. Dragoons can also channel the ferocity and hunger of dragons to heal themselves from the blood of their enemies. They are also known secondarily for their ability to harness the breath weapons of these dragon spirits and blast their enemies. Typically wearing heavy armor and carrying a polearm, these aerial acrobats are feared across all battlefields as they can bring devastation in their bouncing wake.
Abilities
Aerial
The Dragoon dominates the skies with high-flying abilities and acrobatics despite heavy armament. During Aerial:
- Only Aerial Arts abilities and basic attacks may be used.
- The Dragoon is one square off the ground above and adjacent their foe, attacking downwards. Weapons without Reach or Piercethrough may still attack adjacent squares. Weapons with Reach or Piercethrough may optionally target only the adjacent square, or may reach to their usual Range.
- Aerial Arts abilities have different effects when used while Aerial.
- The Dragoon may not move between actions while Aerial, unless an ability specifically allows them to do so.
- The Dragoon cannot hit targets that are Knocked Down or Mini'd while Aerial. Some other targets may be too low to the ground for the Dragoon to hit.
The Dragoon can land as a Simple Action, or by using an ability that allows them to land. Otherwise, they automatically land at the end of their turn.
A Dragoon cannot go Aerial if they are Immobilized or Grounded.

Highwind
Feature
Description:
Effect: While Aerial, the Dragoon gains PA*2 to damage when using Aerial Art abilities. This damage bonus increases to PA*4 at Rank 3, PA*6 at Rank 5, and PA*8 at Rank 7.
Blood of the Dragon
Feature - Support Ability
Effect: Select an element--Fire, Ice, Thunder, Water, Earth, or Wind. This selection affects several Dragoon abilities.
Counter Jump
Feature - Enmity
Description:
Effect: When the Dragoon's Enmity is triggered, the Dragoon may use Boost Jump against the target, beginning their next turn Aerial.
Lancet
Innate - Wyrmheart - Static 1 - MA - Weapon Range
Description:
Damage: MA*WP Physical damage.
On Hit: The Dragoon recovers HP equal to half the damage dealt, and recovers MA*1 MP.
Boost Jump
Innate - Aerial Arts - Static 1 - PA - Melee Range
Description:
Damage: Normal damage.
Effect: The Dragoon becomes Aerial.
Prime: The Dragoon may move up to three spaces towards their target prior to this attack. Ignore difficult terrain and Rampart for this movement. For effects that trigger Boost Jump, treat Boost Jump as if it had a Range of 3.
Shortspear

Description:
Effect: As a Free action, the character may ignore the benefits of Piercethrough on Polearms, making it a Range 1 melee weapon.
Accumulate
Wyrmheart - Chain 1 - PA - Weapon Range - Chain Bonus
Description:
Damage: Normal damage.
On Hit: Adds +PA as bonus damage to all further attacks in this chain. This bonus stacks with further uses of Accumulate.
Focus Strike

Description:
Damage: Normal damage.
On Hit: Adds +5 ACC to all further attacks in this chain. This bonus stacks with further uses of Focus Strike.
Provoke

Effect: Provokes the target.
Crashing Dive
Aerial Arts - Finisher 1 - PA - Melee Range
Description:
Damage: Normal damage.
Effect: Move adjacent to the target.
Aerial: Knockback 1, then land where the target was knocked back from.
Break - Dragonheart
Wyrmheart - Interrupt - Self
Description:
Trigger: The Dragoon takes damage that would KO him, and the Dragoon has no Broken or Exhausted slots.
Effect: The Dragoon remains conscious with 1 HP and gains Exhaust 4. The Dragoon gains +20 EVA until the end of the round. The Dragoon is no longer a viable target for the enemy that would have KO'd him this turn, but the enemy can still use the rest of his Action Slots against a different target.
Break - Sky High
Aerial Arts - Free Action - Self
Description:
Effect: The Dragoon does not land at the end of their turn. Until the end of this round, if the Dragoon lands due to an ability, they may immediately become Aerial again.

Effect: Gain the Prime benefit of Boost Jump, even if you aren't a Dragoon.

Bound Away

Description:
Damage: Normal damage.
Aerial: The Dragoon moves one space away from its target after resolving the attack, ignoring the target's Rampart. Then, if there are no targets within weapon range, land.
Spiral Blow

Description:
Damage: Normal damage.
Aerial: DEX vs. RES or Knockdown. Then, land.
Crescent Moon
Aerial Arts - Chain 1 - PA - Melee Range
Description:
Damage: Normal damage.
Aerial: Attacks enemies to the immediate left and right of the target as well, using the same ACC roll and dealing half damage.
Dragon's Breath I

Damage: Deals 1d10 * MA damage in the area of effect.
Special: Dragon's Breath deals damage of the element selected for Blood of the Dragon.
Healing Breath I

Damage: Restores 1d10 * MA HP to creatures in the area of effect.
Ancient Circle
Wyrmheart - Static 2 - MA - Self Area 2
Description:
Effect: Creates an Ancient Circle that reaches 2 squares out from the Dragoon's position. The Dragoon has Elementstrike and Resist: Element for their Blood of the Dragon element while inside the circle. Dragon- type creatures that enter the circle take (MA*4) damage upon entry and each time they roll initiative, and have -10 ACC, DEX and MND. The Ancient Circle disappears after 4 rounds, if the Dragoon leaves it, or if the Dragoon is KO'd.

Deep Breath

Wyrmhunt
Wyrmheart - Static 2 - Self - Area 3
Description:
Effect: The Dragoon and all allies in range gains Dragon Killer (4), increasing their critical range by 10 and critical damage by 2*PA against Dragon-type enemies.
White Draw
Wyrmheart - Full Round Action - Self - Area 3
Description:
Effect: The Dragoon restores 5+MA MP to allies in the area of effect. The Dragoon is not affected by White Draw.
Prime: White Draw restores an additional 5 MP.
Break - White Spiral - In addition to its regular effects, drains 10 MP from all enemies within the area of effect. Distribute this MP evenly amongst allies in the area. White Spiral affects the Dragoon in addition to his allies.

Gungnir Throw

On Hit: The Dragoon moves in a straight line and ends adjacent to the target. Enemy Rampart attacks and ground effects trigger normally during this movement.
Aerial: This ability can be used once per round as a Chain 1. Rampart and ground effects do not trigger during the movement.
Lance Burst
Aerial Arts - Chain 2 - PA - Weapon Range
Description:
Damage: Normal Magic damage of the Dragoon's Blood of the Dragon element.
Aerial: Lance Burst also hits two squares behind the target, using the same ACC roll and dealing normal Magic damage of the Dragoon's Blood of the Dragon element.
Dragon Dive
Aerial Arts - Finisher 1 - PA - Melee Range
Description:
Damage: Normal damage.
Effect: Move adjacent to the target.
Aerial: Deals an additional MA*8 Magic damage to all creatures adjacent to the target, then lands.
Special: Dragon Dive's secondary effect deals Magic damage of the element selected for Blood of the Dragon.

Break - Jump
Aerial Arts - Full Round Action - PA - Range 4 - No Evade - Requires: No Vertical Ceiling
Description:
Damage: Double damage.
Effect: The Dragoon leaves initiative for 10 ticks as they leap into the air, becoming untargetable. At the end of 10 ticks, the Dragoon comes crashing down, dealing damage to their target as long as they are in the same space they were when the Dragoon originally jumped. They then may either return to the space where they Jumped from, or a space adjacent to their target. If neither is available, the Dragoon becomes Knocked Down in a random square as close as possible to where they originally jumped.
Prime: The Dragoon "tracks" their target as they move; as long as they remain within Range 4 of the origin space, Jump will find its target. Highwind's bonus also doubles for this attack.

Paradigm Shift
Feature Optional
Effect: The Dragoon may select a Job Paradigm Shift, replacing some of their Feature abilities. The character may select neither, or one of:
Dragon Knight: A dragon warrior whose trusty pet drake never leaves their side.
Valkyrie: A skirmisher that is highly adept and darting in and out of combat while laying waste to their foes.
True Descendant
Augment: Blood of the Dragon
Description:
Effect: The character gains Elementstrike and Resist Element for the element selected for Blood of the Dragon.
Grand Dragon Bloodline: The character gains their Grand Dragon element as well.
