Fatal Type
KO
Description: The character is wounded and falls unconscious, bleeding out from their wounds.
Effect: Term for when HP reaches zero. The character is removed from Initiative and loses 1 LP. Each turn at Initiative, the character loses 1 LP. The character also loses 1 LP when they take any amount of damage. LP bleedout can be stopped with a Medical check, but the character does not regain consciousness. If bleedout has stopped, taking any amount of damage will cause it to begin again normally.
When KO is removed, the character starts their turn Downed.

Near Fatal
Description: Life energy suddenly rushes out of the character, leaving them weakened and vulnerable.
Effect: Term for abilities that reduce HP to 1d20. No immediate effects other than HP loss.

Description:

Death
Description:
Effect: The character is out of LP and has perished. This character cannot be revived, and a new one must be created.

Berserk
Description: The character is overcome with rage.
Effect: Physical damage increases by 1.1x. The character may not perform any action that is not a damage-dealing Physical action.

Charm
Description: The character is overcome with infatuation with an enemy, switching allegiances temporarily.
Effect: Character is controlled by an enemy. The enemy who charmed the character may control their action on their turn.

Fear
Description: The character is afraid and tries to flee from battle.
Effect: The character uses their movement to move as far away from the caster as they can, but may still act.

Description: The character is dazed to the point that they cannot act.

Confuse

4: The character moves as far away from combat as possible, using abilities if possible.
5: The character uses one of its Inventory items on a random creature in range.
6: The character is Downed.
7: The character begins an attack chain on the closest creature to them.
8: The character tries to restore HP to a random creature in range; if it has no way to do so, it deals WP*PA damage to itself.
9: The character uses its most powerful ability on the closest enemy, preferring AoE abilities.
10: The character uses its most powerful ability on its weakest ally, preferring AoE abilities.

Provoked
Description: The character is taunted or intimidated by an enemy and is compelled to attack them.
Effect: If the Provoked creature makes an attack that does not include the creature (Provoker) that provoked them in its effect, the Provoke is violated. The following effects then occur:
Many Jobs have special effects that trigger when Provoke is violated. In these cases, follow the ability with the Provoke Trigger tag instead.

Disease
Description: The character is infected with a wasting disease that stunts healing.
Effect: The character's RES decreases by 20. All HP restoration on the character is halved.

Description: The character is infected with a virus that suppresses all healing.
Effect: The character does not benefit from any item or ability that restores HP, MP, or enables/fixes Action Slots. Items that restore status still work normally. The character still naturally generates MP.

Seal Type
Blind
Description: The character's vision is clouded, either by enchantment or damage.
Effect: ACC rolls for Physical attacks suffer a -40 penalty. Abilities that are No Evade have an 80% chance of success.

Description: The character's stamina has temporarily waned.
Effect: For each stack of Exhaust, one of the character's Action Slots is disabled.

Description: The character's mind is muddled, causing them unable to find what they need when they need it.
Effect: Using and trading items is a Full Round Action.

Effect: The character's RES and SPR are reduced by an amount as described by the ability.

Silence
Description: The character's words become nothing but a wisp.
Effect: The character cannot use any ability that requires MP, or their voice (such as screams and shouts, or Bardsong).

Sleep
Description: The character falls into a deep slumber, unable to be aroused.
Effect: The character falls prone and is removed from initiative. EVA is 0.

Petrifying
Description: The character is slowly turning to stone.
Effect: Each Initiative, the character makes a RES save against the DEX/MND they initially saved against. If they fail, MOV reduced by 1. When MOV reaches 0, inflicts Stone. If Petrifying is removed, MOV returns to normal.

Stone
Description: The character's flesh has been turned into stone.
Effect: The character is removed from Initiative. They do not have LP bleedout, but damage still reduces LP as normal.

Description: The character's body is numb, preventing them from taking many actions.
Effect: The character has trouble utilizing Action Slots. For each action they take, they have a 50% chance to have the action cancelled. Slots are still expended this way, but other resources (such as MP, LP, items, etc.) are not.

Description: The character is having trouble moving.

Description:
Effect: The character is banished to the Void for a number of rounds. During this time, the character is not considered to be "in play"--the character is removed from initiative and no other statuses except for X-Zone count down, but cannot be targeted by any effect or ability. At the end of the X-Zone duration, the character returns to play in the spot they disappeared from.
Special: Stopped characters cannot be X-Zoned. If the character has a Chronos Tear, it automatically is used to pull the character out of the X-Zone on the next Initiative.

Mini
Description: The character is reduced to half their normal size.

Effect: All physical damage dealt by the character is halved. DEF/MDF reduced to 0. Disables Rampart. No abilities other than Attack, Item, and Defend may be used, with the exception of the Black Magic: Toad spell. Swimming checks are at +40 and the character can breathe underwater.

Zombie
Description: The character's flesh turns cold, a strange scent coming off them as if they had been dead for weeks.
Effect: Healing and draining effects work oppositely of normal--restorative magic damages the character, Drain-type effects heal the character and damage the caster. If the character is the target of a Raise spell, they take 50% of their current HP in damage. Treat Arise like a Doom spell. Doom fully heals the character. Unlike proper undead, characters with the Zombie status cannot be Snuffed.

Invisible
Description: The character is turns completely invisible.
Effect: The character cannot be seen or directly targeted. The character automatically evades any Physical attacks, but cannot evade Magic attacks.

Protect
Description: The air around the character hardens into a protective barrier, absorbing physical attacks.

Description: A magical paling forms around the character, absorbing magical attacks.
Effect: Magical damage received is reduced by 20%, before MDF applies.

Elemental Spikes
Description: Motes of elemental energy float around the character, lashing out at attackers.
Effect: Deals elemental damage to any adjacent character that deals melee Physical damage to the character. This effect is applied each time the character takes damage (so misses do not trigger Spikes).

Element Guard
Description: A web of elemental energy surrounds the character, protecting them from a specific element.
Effect: Halves incoming elemental damage after DEF/MDF is calculated. Does not confer a weakness to any other element.

Reflect
Description: A shimmering paling reflects all incoming magic.
Effect: Bounces any and all magic with the Reflectable tag. If a character with Reflect is directly targeted with a spell, the spell instead affects the original caster instead. If a character with Reflect is caught in an AoE spell (but is not the primary target), the spell affects the caster as well, but does not provide protection for other creatures in the AoE.

Blink
Description: The character seems to rapidly blink in and out of existence, each movement followed by afterimages.
Effect: Provides an amount of Blink charges, depending on the effect that cast it. Each time the character is successfully attacked, the attack misses and a Blink charge is spent. Blink is dismissed when all Blink charges are spent.

Description:

HP Critical
Description: The character is gravely injured, but can still move and act normally. Sometimes, desperation can open up hidden potentials.
Effect: Term for when HP reaches 1/4 its maximum. No immediate effects, although some abilities work differently regarding characters in HP Critical. Abilities that are tagged as SOS Abilities trigger during HP Critical.

Knockback
Description: A powerful force causes the character to lose their footing.
Effect: The character is forced to move a number of squares directly away from the point of origin (usually the user of the Knockback ability). Rampart effects are not triggered during this forced movement. If the target reaches the end of a platform and would fall, they may make an Acrobatics check to catch the edge before they fall.
If a target is knocked back and there is a solid object in their path, they must make a DEX vs. RES save. If they fail, they are Downed. If they succeed, they bounce off the object with no further effect.
If a target is knocked back and there is another creature in their path, both the target and the other creature must make a DEX vs. RES save. If they fail, they are Downed. If they succeed, there is no further effect.
