a soup of consisting of 吸い地 (suiji - soup stock flavored with soy sauce and salt), 椀種 (wandane - a main, solid ingredient), つま (tsuma - a garnish lending a touch of color) and 吸い口 (suikuchi - a fragrant garnish).

潮汁 (ushiojiru)

thin soup of fish or shellfish boiled in seawater

すまし汁 (sumashijiru)

transparent soup in which soup stock is seasoned
