At the March Pawnee Amateur Radio Club meeting member WA0QCI showed the prototype of a desktop microphone that he had created for his Kenwood 2-meter mobile/base radio.
The finished product is shown below.
For this homebrew project WA0QCI used a microphone from a PC headset speaker microphone, a mic cord from an old handset, an impulse switch from radio shack and a small radio shack project box.
Update:
At the September meeting KD0OBA displayed his version of the PC microphone desktop microphone project. A jack on the side of the project box allows alternate microphones to be connected (for example a head-set microphone).
