Program
Digital Mobile Radio - DMR
Guest WB0VNF (Steve) – gave a report on the new DMR repeater recently commissioned on the old AT&T tower south of Columbus and how it is linked into the DMR DMARC system. There are currently eleven DMARC system repeaters operational across eastern Nebraska with plans to continue expansion.
George Blessing (not able to attend tonight) installed the DMR repeater equipment with the antenna temporarily installed part way up the tower with plans to relocate it to a higher location in the future. Even at the current location the Columbus DMR repeater has a broad footprint.
DMR channels that are available on the Columbus repeater via the DMARC system are:
• 3131 - Nebraska
• 31691 - Tri-city (Chicago)
• 3120 - Kansas
• 3 - North America
It is possible to driver from Norfolk, to Columbus, to Fremont and into Omaha and maintain a radio conversation using the Nebraska 3131 radio talk group!
NE-ARES
Ed Holloway (K0RPT) – NE-ARES – presentation on the NEARES linked repeater network (8 linked)
https://neares.net/
It is an analog repeater network with the local 442.050 repeater in Rising City linked in thanks to help from WD0AAH. It is also linked to 147.045 (Lincoln), Alliance, Ogallala & North Platte. There are plans for five additional repeaters coming on-line in Q1 2025
The Pawnee Amateur Radio Club has donated several old repeaters (controllers and bandpass cans) and various supporting parts to the NE-ARES network. NE-ARES says thanks! Almost all the parts that were donated have been refurbished and reused.
Repeaters in the linked network can be set up in two different ways.
“At-Will” repeater – one that can connect into the network when needed – it is not full time connected. Linking in and out of the network is controlled by the local radio club.
“CORE” repeater – always connected into the network. CORE repeaters are used for the hubs of the network.
