Old Business
KD0RIZ - presented the Treasurer report.
WD0AAH - David City repeater update: Mark reported that the new tower northeast of David City is up and working well. Thanks to KG0ED (John) who worked with Mark to relocate his Osceola 147.015 repeater to the new David City site. Signal reports are that the repeater has a very wide coverage area with confirmations from Hamburg, IA to Kearney, NE (good propagation helps!)
147.015 (+) KG0ED input frequency 147.615 PL Tone: none
KD0OBA - 146.640 repeater report: We have experienced issues with the repeater controller staying active and not dropping correctly after a transmission ended. It would then stay active until it reached its time-out limit. It would then time-out, drop and reactivate itself again. AC0TF and KD0OBA shut off transmit on the repeater to protect the hardware from constant use.
New Business
KD0RIZ - Adam (Treasurer) collected 2026 membership dues. The dues remain the same $20. Members can mail their dues to Adam at:
Adam Foster
110 Cottonwood Drive
Columbus, NE 68601
KD0RIZ - Adam will look into a different bank for the club's checking account. The current bank has been challenging to work with and has started to implement inactivity fees. A motion and second were made to authorize Adam to proceed with finding a different bank.
KF0SKU - New club member. Welcome Jonathan! Jonathan is an Extra class operator from Albion. Thank you for joining our club.
KD0OBA - 146.640 temporary repeater: WD0AAH offered the club the use of a temporary Yaesu DR-1X VHF/UHF/Fusion repeater while we investigate the old Maggiore Hi-Pro repeater. N0RHM (Tim) and KD0OBA (Gene) removed the old repeater and installed the temporary repeater on January 7th. The new temporary repeater is working well and signal reports show that it is has good coverage.
WD0AAH - 146.640 repeater: WD0AAH offered to sell the temporary repeater to the club if they would like to purchase it. This offer was discussed and there was approval from the meeting attendees for doing this. Since all club officers were not present, KD0OBA will be sending out an approval email to the club officers. If they approve, we will poll the club membership on the Sunday evening radio net and then proceed with the purchase. Thank you Mark for making this repeater available to the club.
KD0OBA - AllStar radio link for 146.640. While looking into replacement options for the 146.640 repeater, the topic of AllStar linking on the repeater came up. There is interest from several club members in looking at would it would take to make this happen. By adding the AllStar option to link into other repeaters, it would bring additional traffic to the Columbus repeater and it would allow local operators to participate in state-wide VHF radio nets. N0RHM, KF0GCK and KD0OBA will look into what it would take to add this capability to the 146.640 repeater.
KD0OBA - Winter Field Day is the weekend of Jan 23, 24, 25th. The club is not planning an official activity, but several members are planning to participate.
WD0AAH - Summer Field Day is June 27, 28th. Mark invited everyone to add the dates to their calendar and to meet at his QTH to participate with the Blue Valley Amateur Radio Club in this event.
WD0AAH - Everyone is invited to the Blue Valley Amateur Radio Club's Spring meeting March 8th at the Utica Fire Hall.
With no further business, the business portion was concluded and the club moved onto general discussion and the program for the evening.
