1 lb ziti
1 C shredded mozzarella cheese
Ziti Sauce
--4 C tomato sauce (homemade or jar)
--2 C Alfredo sauce (homemade or jar)
--1/2 C ricotta cheese
--1 tsp garlic pepper
--1/2 tsp garlic powder
--1/4 C shredded mozzarella cheese
--3 T fontina cheese (optional)
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and blend thoroughly. Cover, set aside and refrigerate until ready to use
Ziti Topping
--3 T grated Romano cheese
--3 T grated Parmesan cheese
--3 C shredded mozzarella cheese
--1/2 C Italian breadcrumbs
--1 T chopped garlic
--3 T vegetable oil
--3 T chopped fresh parsley
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and blend thoroughly.
Cover, set aside and refrigerate until ready to use.
Assembling the Dish
--In a large pot, bring 5 quarts of water to a boil. Cook pasta according to directions. While the pasta is boiling, spray an 8 in by 10 in or 9 in by 12 in baking dish with pan spray. Pour 1/4 C of the prepared ziti sauce in the dish. Using the bottom of a spoon, spread the sauce evenly.
--Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. When the pasta has finished cooking, drain the excess water and pour pasta into a large mixing bowl. Add remaining ziti sauce to the hot pasta. Mix thoroughly and pour into the baking dish.
--Evenly distribute shredded mozzarella over the mixture and then top with the prepared ziti topping.
--Place on center rack in the oven until top is lightly browned and cheese is bubbling, about 25-35 minutes. Remove from oven and serve immediately.
