USER SOFTWARE UPGRADE BACKGROUND
SEND IN YOUR WARRANTEE CARD TO NCE: This will allow NCE to keep you up to date on software upgrades.NCE releases software in the form of a "Chip" upgrade. The existing chip sits in a socket that allows chip replacement with the new one. Upgrade information is given below.Software upgrade chips can be ordered from NCE as a very reasonable cost and is sent in the mail to you IF you decide to do the upgrade yourself. You can optionally send in your DCC system command station to NCE and pay them to do the upgrade. A hardcopy of the manual is extra. PDF versions of the manual are available from NCE website.If you just purchased a new NCE DCC system and it happens to have the older software in it, send in the NCE warrantee card. This card will let NCE know you have a older software and they will contact you about getting you a FREE software upgrade for you system. You can also call NCE.

Some NCE software upgrade state they will not cause a loss of memory contents when installed. However there is no guarantee and in fact loss of memory has happen to a lot of people.
NEVER DO A SOFTWARE UPGRADE JUST BEFORE YOU PLAN TO HAVE GUEST OVER. Do it only when you have the time to recover the layout if things do not go well.
