Cab06e / Cab06p

CAB CLASS: Engineer

PART NUMBERS:CAB06: ENCODER KNOBCAB06R: ENCODER KNOB with radioCAB06P: POT KNOB CABCAB06PR: POT KNOB CAB with radio

CAB HISTORY/DESCRIPTION:CAB06's evolved over time. The first version of the Cab06 were only offered as an Encoder Knob type. There is no toggle version. Instead the cab offers the Recall function like found on the PowerPro cab which allows multiple engines to be quickly selected and controlled.

SYSTEM COMPATIBILITY (Does not apply to PowerCab or SB3a based systems):

The Cab06 is first cab to use some features developed long ago inside the PowerPro DCC system. Unfortunately the features did not work correctly and as a consequence, a software upgrade of the PowerPro system is required depending on which version of the Power Pro you have.

What is the problem? Locomotive numbers above 4095 will not display properly but the cab will work.

How do I tell I need it? If the Command Stations Eprom (Software) date is:

1) 3/01/2007, or 3/01/2007A then it needs to be upgraded.

2) 3/01/2007B or 3/01/2007C then it is okay for use with the cab06.

RADIO VERSION

The Radio adds a R suffix after the CAB06 name. Does not matter it the cab is pot or encoder.

LED DISPLAY

THE LED display only shows the locomotive number in digits. It only change when you select a locomotive to operate. It does NOT show speed. There are 4 LED dots or periods under the numbers with labels F, R, 1, 2.

F = Forward Locomotive direction.

R = Reverse Locomotive direction.

1 = 1st Shift Key level

2 = 2nd Shift Key level.

The shift indications are used with the SHIFT/ESC key. Most of the button on the front of the cab has 2 level of functions allowing one to access many more advanced features than what the printed key markings would indicate. There is a list of the shifted functions printed on the back of the cab.

SETTING THE CAB ID/ADDRESS.

The factory default Cab ID/Address value is the same for given class of cab. On a given layout, every cab must have a unique cab ID/Address REGARDLESS of what class of cab it is. The layout owner must to assign unique ID/Address between 2 and 63 to very physical cab. It is best to make the cab with the address number on it and make a list so you do not create two cabs with the same ID. Once assigned, the cab will memorize the ID/Address you assign to inside itself and it does not change even when you use the the given cab on multiple NCE layout.

The process of setting the cab address require one holding down the SELECT key when you turn on the cab or plug it into a cab panel that is on. The cab will wake up prompting for the ID number. Press the number to be assigned to the cab and then press the ENTER key. The cab will no use that ID going forward.

RESETING THE CAB and DEFAULT ID/ADDRESS

The process of reseting the cab starts the same way as setting the cab ID/Address. However if you enter cab ID/address 0, the cab will reset back to factory default values.

DEFAULT CAB ID/ADDRESS (NON TOGGLE VERSION) = 5
