October 1st names of competitors and judges are due
Judge requirements:
Schools are expected to provide at least one judge per two teams rounded up [ex. If you bring 2 teams you bring 1 judge. If you bring 3 or 4 teams you bring 2 judges, etc]. Judges for the junior division can be experienced grade 11/12 students who are not attending as debaters. Judges in the senior division must be adults, experience is not required.
Meeting your judge requirement is extremely important to ensure that rounds can run with multiple judges in a room, especially because this is a combined junior & senior event.
Tournament rules:
3 rounds of BP Debate, all impromptu
5 minute speeches, 30 seconds of protected time (no POIs offered)
No outside resources (including notes, past debate flows, books, phones, etc) are allowed to be used during prep. Students may have a phone out to keep track of prep time.
Teams can refer to the MSDA guide to British Parliamentary for precise details.
