Dec 4 Montreal Jr Tournament

The tournament will be all day on Saturday, December 4, from 8:45 AM to 5 PM Manitoba time. Teams debate both sides of the prepared topic in the morning and then do two impromptu rounds in the afternoon -- each impromptu round has a different resolution. Coaches who are interested should contact Chris George directly.

The prepared topic is:

This House supports "right to repair" legislation.

Info Slide: Right to repair laws, also called fair repair laws, typically require manufacturers to publish repair manuals and sell the parts, diagnostic software, and tools needed to fix their products. The goal is to ensure consumers can repair their own devices, such as cellular phones, or automobiles, among other products, or pay an independent outfit to do so. This idea has gained momentum amongst Canadian lawmakers over the past year

Coaches may register by emailing me cgeorge@videotron.ca directly confirming the number of teams. I don't need specific debater and judge name(s) until later. As a reminder, the event is open to schools and institutions only. No independent or student entries.

Due to anticipated demand, I am going to need to take the step to limit registration to two teams per school. You are as always required to send one adult judge, and any additional judges who are experienced high school debaters are welcome. I will take a wait list, that I will evaluate closer to the tournament to see if more teams can be accepted per school, however, I suspect it will fill up fairly quickly.

As a reminder, please do not post the tournament URL publicly. You are responsible for sending all information directly to judges and debaters please. All tournaments are in CNDF format with Junior speaking times, and all events are free. Please see the tournament webpage for a detailed schedule.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Chris
