Junior High Novice Provincial Debating Championships

Grades 6, 7 and 8

Time: Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012. Registration is from 4:45 until 5:15. There will be 2 prepared rounds of Parliamentary debate. The tournament should end around 8:30 pm. Snacks will be provided between rounds but unfortunately we cannot provide a full dinner. Judges briefing begins at 5:15 PM.

Location: St. Boniface Diocesan High School, 282 Dubuc Street.

Resolution: BIRT this house would reduce the salaries of professional athletes.

If you have any doubts about your definition, please contact Vanessa Olson at volson@sbdhs.net. Teams will debate both sides.

Speaking times will be a maximum of 6 minutes for constructive speeches and 3 minutes for rebuttals. There is no minimum time. Heckling is not allowed. There will NOT be an open category at this tournament.

Schools may send a maximum of 3 teams. Depending upon numbers, it may be possible to send additional teams. If you would like to do so, please indicate this on the form and we will let you know after April 23rd. Schools must bring one judge per team.
