アカデミアにおける研究公正をテーマに、活発に研究活動を進めていらっしゃる南オーストラリア大学のTracey Bretag 博士をお招きし、「責任ある研究活動」をテーマに講演いただきます。Bretag 博士はCommittee of Publication Ethics (COPE) の評議員としても活躍されています。
前半は、web サイト「誠実な生命科学研究のために」を運営し、ライフサイエンス領域の研究公正の推進に携わる京都薬科大学教授の田中智之博士による、国内のミスコンダクト（研究不正）事例、およびその背景についての解説を、後半は、そのようなミスコンダクトが起こりにくい研究環境を形作るために必要な「責任ある研究活動」とは何かについて、Bretag 博士よりお話をうかがいます。
研究室で指導的立場にある研究者、および将来の指導者となる若手研究者をはじめ、研究公正に関心をお持ちのみなさまのご来場をお待ちしております。
国内のミスコンダクト事例とその背景

要旨：2014年にSTAP細胞事件およびディオバン事件という、メディアに大きく取り上げられる研究不正事件が相次いで発覚したことは、わが国における研究公正の推進に大きな影響を与えた。従来はミスコンダクトを起こした研究者の個性に注目が集まり、研究不正を研究コミュニティにおける構造的な問題と捉えることはなかったが、これらの事件以降、「研究公正ポータル」(https://www.jst.go.jp/kousei_p/)の開設に代表されるように、研究公正の推進に係る活動が継続的に実施されており、研究資金配分機関も一定の予算を充てるようになった。一方で、ミスコンダクトの取り扱いは研究機関に委ねられていることから、その対応には大きなばらつきがある。また、ミスコンダクトとして認定されないグレーゾーンの研究活動を通じた研究環境の歪みは次第に無視できないものとなっている。ここでは、近年のわが国のミスコンダクト、および疑わしい研究活動の実例を取り上げ、その背景にあるメカニズムを考察する。
演者について：演者は京都薬科大学の薬理学分野の教授を務めており、炎症・アレルギー領域の実験科学を専門としている。2015年に日本薬学会の年会シンポジウムで研究公正について取り上げ、以降、実験科学に従事する研究者の立場から研究公正の推進に取り組んでいる。Webサイト「誠実な生命科学研究のために」は、研究公正の教育に携わる教員の資料集として作成した。薬学領域を主な対象とした研究倫理に関する論考の一部はwebで公開されている（1, 2, 3)。また、2018年には大学における研究公正教育のテキストとして「科学者の研究倫理 化学・ライフサイエンスを中心に」（田中智之、小出隆規、安井裕之、東京化学同人）を刊行した。

Abstract: In this presentation, Dr Tracey Bretag will discuss the eight key principles of responsible conduct of research (RCR) – honesty, rigour, transparency, fairness, respect, recognition, accountability and promotion – based on the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2018). In addition, Dr Bretag will provide guidelines for implementing these principles, and share some of the excellent resources on how to manage misconduct in the publication of research from the Committee of Publication Ethics. There will be opportunities for questions, and Dr Bretag will also be available to share other aspects of her research relating to both undergraduate and postgraduate academic integrity.
About the presenter: Dr Tracey Bretag is an Associate Professor (Higher Education) at the University of South Australia. Tracey’s research for over 17 years has focussed on all aspects of academic integrity. Since 2011 she has led four large Australian Office for Learning and Teaching funded research projects, including the Academic Integrity Standards Project, the Exemplary Academic Integrity Standards Project, the Intercultural Learning in Asia Project and (with Dr Rowena Harper) the Contract cheating and assessment design project. Tracey is the Founding Editor of the International Journal for Educational Integrity (BMC, Springer Nature), Editor-in-Chief of the Handbook of Academic Integrity (Springer 2016), Editor of A Research Agenda for Academic Integrity (2020, forthcoming) and former President of the Executive Board to the International Center for Academic Integrity in the U.S.A. (2014-2016). Tracey was also the Lead Advisor for the Epigeum Academic Integrity Program and is an elected Council Member of the Committee on Publication Ethics.
