You can live for pleasure
(SANDSTONE)
(SANDSTONE)
1 You can live for pleasure every day,
you can build on golden sand;
but the one who builds on solid rock
is the one whose house will stand.
2 For the rain will fall and rivers rise,
though you don't know when or how;
and the only way to safety then
is to build on Jesus now.
3 If you try to do the things he says,
digging deep beneath the sand,
then the storms of life may buffet you
but your house will always stand.

Once more the tune came first, in around 1997, and the words seemed to take their places naturally. There have been many versions all over the world of this simple parable so helpful for showing young people (as well as old) the best, the only sure way for us to build our lives. The sourfces are in Matthew 7 and Luke 6, and this song contains strands from both passages. The message of the words is easy for us to sing about, but we soon find that is just the beginning!
