How beautiful it is
Psalm 133
(7 IN 1)
(7 IN 1)
How beautiful it is when God’s people
live together in unity,
how good it is when all the fellowship
serve together in love.
1 It's like the precious oil, anointing
the priest who stood before the Lord,
a sign of total consecration
and overflowing joy.
How beautiful it is…
2 It's like the dew of early morning
renewing thirsty arid land:
the Lord in kindness gives his blessing,
his life for evermore.
How beautiful it is…
3 O Spirit of the Lord, anoint us
and pour your fragrance on us now:
revive our thirsty souls, and bless us
with your refreshing dew.
How beautiful it is…

Lyric Video:
Here is one of the Psalms of Ascent which pilgrims sang together on their way up to the temple in Jerusalem. Its three short verses portray the wonderful harmony we can enjoy as we worship God together. The writer was King David, but the roots of the first picture go back deep into Hebrew tabernacle service, when Aaron and his fellow-priests were anointed with specially prepared oil whose fragrance filled the sanctuary where they were consecrated. The second image is of early morning dew pouring down from mountains soaring above them to irrigate the dry plains below. It is God's blessing, the joy of a united fellowship refreshed by the Spirit of God.
