Many of the songs in this section, as well as those not published at present, were written first to music already in copyright – particularly from 'Mission Praise'. The harvest song “Come with thanksgiving”, for example, was originally set to “As we are gathered, Jesus is here”. Gill Berry composed a new tune for it (COME WITH THANKSGIVING) – as she has done for several other song-like psalms and carols. John composed many of his songs during the decade or so which followed his purchase of a synthesiser in about 1991. He has composed tunes on their own, such as the Christmas carol STARLIGHT, for which I wrote two main sets of words, and others to my lyrics (such as WELCOME JESUS. Occasionally we have collaborated entirely, with tune and text emerging simultaneously, and have then worked them together. That was the case with MARANATHA (“In Heaven we have a home prepared”), which came in response to a talk at a church service on the second coming of Jesus.
