4/18/16

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Week 33! We’ve got a TON of things to accomplish from now until the end of the school year. We’ll be talking about community helpers this week. It’d be great if you can discuss with your students about various jobs of the people in your family. Moreover, if you’d like to come and share what you do with our class, let me know! We’ll be covering community helpers the next two weeks.

We also start our last theme of wild animals and asking “why?” in addition to writing our own “why” story (the last two weeks).

Save the Date: We will have an all French performance on Monday, May 16 at 8:30-9:30am. The students will play xylophones songs that they’ve been learning from Mme Hope and two songs.

Here are our adventures this week:

French:

We are working on the sound “CH”. It is pronounced “ssshh”. We will be seeing the following words:

  • Un chapeau – hat

  • Un chat – cat

  • Le chien – dog

  • Une écharpe – scarf

  • Le chameau – camel

  • Les chaussures – shoes

  • Le cheval – horse

  • Le bouchon – cap/cork

Sight words: We have learned all of our sight words. Please review the ebook or the sheet of sight words. Your students are expected to know how to read these words by the end of the year.

Book: Pourquoi la girafe a un long cou? – Contes de Tinga Tinga

The video in English can be found here:

Math:

  • We will be reviewing all of our math skills as we have covered the kindergarten standards

Homework explanation:

  • Please read at least 20 minutes per day with your student.

  • Check Google Classroom for community helper and sight words e-books

Reminders:

  • Please make sure you sign your child’s behavior log every day.

  • We are not going to the library this week due to the upper graders testing in the media lab. We’ll hopefully find another day like we had last week.

    • Monday, May 16 - French performance at 8:30am
