2/29/16

Dear Parents,

It’s Leap Day! Welcome to Week 27! This is wrap up week as we finish the last week of Trimester 2. We’re finishing up assessments and you will receive your child’s second trimester report card in next week’s Thursday Folder. Conferences for this trimester are based on teacher or parent requests. I have set aside Tues 3/15, Wed 3/16 for 15-minute sessions. I can add more sessions after Spring Break if necessary.

We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America on Wednesday, 3/2.

This Friday is a minimum day with dismissal at 11:42. Lunch will not be provided. Please pack an extra big snack, as the kids get really hungry!

Here’s the breakdown of our week:

French:

  • We will be reviewing all of the letters, sounds, and sight words we have learned.

  • We will be writing a personal description of ourselves.

Book: Une graine de carotte – a book about a carrot seed

Math:

  • We continue to work with subtraction, decomposing numbers, adding fluency, and geometric shapes.

Comptine:

  • Je suis une plante - a Mlle Sun/Mme Moine original

Science:

  • We get ready to learn about plants as we prepare for planting season in Trimester 3.

Homework explanation:

  • Please read at least 20 minutes per day with your student.

  • Cut out the sight words and cursive letter flashcards, put them on a ring or ziploc bag to review at home

Reminders:

  • Please make sure you sign your child’s behavior log every day.

  • Library time is Tuesday at 8:30am. Please bring the book back in the 2-gallon ziplock bag.

  • Friday is a minimum day. Please pack an extra large snack!

  • If you would like to help me pack, I’ll be in the classroom Friday from 1:30 and on!
