Dear Parents,
Welcome to Week 3! We’re already on our 11th day of school! The students are settling into our routine getting used to being kindergarteners!
We had our first computer session on Friday and they absolutely loved Typing Club. Feel free to practice at home, also. I suggest 20 minutes per week, as to not experience frustration or boredom with typing.
Our library time is Tuesday morning. Please make sure the books travel in the provided 2-gallon ziplock bag, so it is protected from water damage and traveling wear and tear. Students need to bring back their book in order to check out a new one.
Be S.M.A.R.T. is Franklin’s school wide positive behavior expectations. Students receive Franklin Owl Bucks for being S.M.A.R.T. and they have received some this week. In French, it is translated as “sois BRILLANT” Every Friday, there is a Be S.M.A.R.T. store where they can purchase goodies with their bucks. Currently, they can purchase from my treasure basket. There will also be school wide activities that they can attend with their earned Owl Bucks.
We will be talking about fire safety and going over the fire drill procedure this week. Earthquake and lock down drills will be the following weeks. It will be greatly appreciated if you discuss these situations with your students at home as well. Please let them know that this is a practice.
We have a full week of learning. Here’s a breakdown:
French:
We will be working on the letter U. Its pronunciation is quite particular. Click here to see how it is pronounced: http://french.about.com/library/media/wavs/u.wav

la lune
une sucette
une tortue
We will complete letter writing, sound isolating, syllable clapping, and syllable identifying activities.
We continue to work with the sentence structure: C’est un… C’est une…
